 After watching Split, surely one is expecting more to this film because it’s the third sequel which should give better story than the last two. The first one terrifying you with the weirdness and seven days terror before the ghost in the movie appears to kill its victim, the second giving you tense when the female-protagonist went to the island where Samara had grow up and facing the terror directly just after she tried to release Samara’s soul by burying her bone properly.

It was Julia and Holt, couples who got to separate because Holt had to go back to his university, everything goes normal since until Julia received message from a girl who used Holt private line that indicates the boyfriend had some trouble because she no longer able to contact him. 

Julia decide to go to Holt’s campus to seek him, instead she found mysterious matter about weird experience that been done by Holt’s professor named Gabriel and Skye, the girl who shown at Holt’s account took Julia to her apartment.

But before Skye could forced Julia the watch the movie of Ring, she got warned by Holt’s text and she hide herself inside the bathroom when Samara shown up and kill Skye who actually reach her last day that night. 

Holt came to Skye’s residence to save Julia and explained that he’s part of the experiment and tomorrow was his seventh day. But because Gabriele couldn’t give him the ‘tail’, Julia decided to watch the movie to release Holt from the curse.

Turned out that she’s not only became victim but Julia also chosen to be special person to accept Samara’s message. She saw something that never been seen at the original movie and what she saw attached inside it. 

Gabriel defragmenting the video and together they saw images that explain Samara’s background which drive Julia and Holt to go there and investigating themselves. At Sacrament Valley, Julia started seeing fractional images she watched on additional video for real, such pregnant woman, the flooding church, the pack of bird, to the grave where believe as the tomb of Samara.

Julia and Holt met Galen Burke, the blind tomb keeper, and he told them the story of Samara and how her death impacts the town because after that flood came and swipe almost everything. Burke said he had to remove her bone and buried her some place further. 

Meanwhile Gabriel finally found out the mark on Julia’s hand which she got on the first day when she picked up the phone, turn out it was Braille and he hurried to catch them to Sacrament Valley. But he’s not able to make it because he’s got an accident and before he could tell Holt about the Braille, the professor died because of electricity shock from the downed electrical poles.

While Holt asking to the motel’s owner about the missing girl Evelyn and the connection with Julia’s vision the girlfriend goes to the church. She discovered the hidden chamber beneath the bell tower and evidences that Evelyn was being imprisoned there while pregnant, she was being raped by the priest and held there before she escaped at eight and half months into pregnancy.

Julia met Burke then to tell about her finding but she was attacked by Burke then, on the other hand Holt discovered that Burke was the priest that kidnapped Evelyn so he run to Burke’s place when he didn’t find Julia at the motel no more. 

Likewise, Samara finally appear before him and kill the blind former priest to death, which very ridiculous because the ghost could give him back his sight just to make it able for her to done that. Julia saved by the ghost, at the end, together with Holt, she cremate Samara’s corpse.

But did she really save from Samara’s curse once and for all?

  

That will be the next question because at the rear scene Holt found out about the mark on Julia’s palm was Braille and he got the word ‘Rebirth’ after he translate it with program on Gabriel’s laptop. It leads to my question, if the previous movie shown how Rachel push the lid to sealed the well where Samara had appear so how she could escape it through another person? Did she give different plot for different person after they saw her film, so they had to save themselves with their own story to day seven?

Well, if the spirit of Samara could control the film file and copying itself, it showed her ability to adapt from ‘tail’ system. How she sent it as many as possible to another contact from Julia’s mail will caught catastrophic which will not end the story in this third sequel. 

I think if they want to make the fourth or fifth, surely they have to develop the story and make it scarier than this. And remember they have to be consistent because Evelyn on Ring 2 had black hair, so how come her hair had change to blonde on Rings?
