SINISTER 2

Directed by: Ciaran Foy
Starring by: James Ransson, Shannyn Sossamon
Blumhouse Production

Robert Cargill once again spooky us with his work on Sinister, and this time he took character from previous chapter, Ex Deputy So & So – he really had funny name indeed – which became the main character as he change his work as private investigator after the shock of Oswalt family’s death. I think it’s a very cool technique to start the story because he’s the only one who survived from what happened at Oswalt’s house and knew everything.

But this time he investigate other house that he suspected carrying the same curse in Oswalt’s house, and went there to burn the house down before it could grab another victim. Apparently, the house has already occupied by a family, Courtney and her two boys, Dylan and Zach. Courtney, a single mother, whose on the run thought So &amp.

So as investigator that send by her abusive husband to locate them, but later she knew So & So concerned about the house when the man defend them from her husband that came along with the police to take her boys. Later she invite So & So to spent the night in her house and I think the writer giving a nice idea of harmonious family when they had dinner...a little bit of love crush between mom and the private investigator after that still OK with me...

Meanwhile, Dylan, the youngest boy, I didn’t know how he could be the youngest because they looked alike to me...I actually thought they’re twins, and I was right because this is a first time for the cast Dartanian Sloan and Robert Daniel Sloan starring horror film...got a nightmare and that night his no-so imaginary friends from the house named Milo took him to the basement to watch 16mm snuff reels depicting families that killed in various ways.

One film shows a family eaten by alligators (Fishing Trip), one shows a family frozen to death in the snow (Christmas Morning), one shows a family being electrocuted (Kitchen Remodeling), and the final movie which made by Milo, himself, titles Sunday School, showing a family that’s being disemboweled by rats in the church...the same church which lies at the back of Courtney’s house.

Deputy So&So found a sign of Bughuul when he searching at the house and the next morning visit Dr. Stormberg who reveals that Professor Jonas from the first Sinister has gone missing, and he discovered a disturbing recording on some radio which contain a child speaking Norwegian before killing his family. The world revealed that Bughuul travel through art – books, films, music, drawings – before influenced the child to kill their family. Well, I thought it’s a very clever idea to expand the Bughuul’s influenced for the next sequel if it will be made...

It turn out that not only Dylan who could see the Bughuul’s kid. His brother, Zach, could as well and he became more violent, calling his mom such nasty, beating up his brother badly and displaying behavior similar to his abusive dead who finally got a chance to bring all his family back to their old house, even though the Deputy had warned Courtney not to leave the house because the Bughuul’s influenced could struck them anytime.

Dylan realized that they’re in danger so he texted Deputy to help him and his family, so that night Deputy So&So manage to rescue Courtney and Dylan. So sorry about Courtney’s husband because he’s already burn to death in the middle of a corn field, but considering his roughness to Dylan and Deputy So&So I think audience agreed that he’s one of the character that must be eliminated. I don’t know about you but when I see several last scenes on this film, I remembered Stephen King’s film, A Children of the Corn...
