TEXAS CHAINSAW 2013

Lions Gate
Directed by: John Luessenhop
Starring by: Alexandra Daddario, Dan Yeager, Tremaine Neverson, Tania Raymonde, Paul Rae

Following the success of the first movie n 1974, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the film take the audience on those era with a flashback scene where Jed begun to sly the people who come to the Carson’s house. I’d watch the movie myself a long time ago, and I remembered that the last victim managed to get away from that house.

From the last moment the tragedy continues in 2013 film, several bunch of armed people from the village that coordinate by Burt Hartman come to the Carson’s house and start to shoot and burn down the house.

The Carsons, The Sawyers, and Jed who still on that house was fire like hell. Only two survive from the Sawyers, Jed who still locked up on the chamber room and the baby of Loretta Sawyer, who adopted their butcher, Garvin and Arlene Miller.

Raise as Heather Miller, one day she found out that she was adopted by Miller’s family because she’s got some letter from the lawyer that told her about Verna Sawyer, her grandmother’s, dead, and she has to came to Newt, Texas to take the heritance from lady Sawyer.

Company by her friend, Heather started the journey to know about her real family and she was astonished when she found out that she inherited some big house furnished by a variety expensive furniture…something that she never deserve from the Millers.

When all her friend busy with the pool table, she draw near to the family cemetery and all of the tombstone bearing the date of death on August 19th on 1974. Only Verna Sawyer who died in 2012.

Something came up to my mind, if Heather adopt on 1974 and she’s back to see her grandmother who died in 2012, her age must be for the last thirty….maybe 37th or 38th. But Heather on this film has a good shape like the girl on age twenty.

May o may….why the professional caster make a small mistakes like these? I adore Alexandra Daddario’s body on the whole film, you’ve got my top credit to see such a look but please…for the sake of the story I think you’ve shouldn’t be there….

And it makes all the role on this movie should be older than their look. Like Leather face, Jed Carson, who probably fifty something because it’s been 38 years past from now so I think the guy on aged near sixty would have difficulties to handle heavy equipment like chainsaw…or maybe the writers think that the monster would never get old like Jason or Freddie Kruger…that’s fine…but Verna’s letter said that Jed is Heather’s cousin, the only sawyer left, which tell us that he just human with a small tiny brain like child.

Again, about the date of August 19th. When I see the date on the tombstone, I realized why Lady Sawyer choose the number of 1908 to open the main gate of the mansion. It very strong lead to show the sentimental number.

But one tiny mistake happened when Heather read the newspaper where taken from evidence box that leave by the Sheriff Hopper. The article about the massacre of her family are date on August 19th, I realized it tries to lead the audience to another symbol that not fit.

Newspaper usually distributed after the event occurred. If the newspaper shows the date of August 19th, the tragedy on Carson’s house should be happened before that date. Funny thing about the newspaper, it show the date (the false date) but not shows the year…

Tiny mistake on that newspaper lead to another mistake, I didn’t think some policeman would left the important evidence alone by some stranger so it can be seen or read well. But it happened on this film and I don’t think Sheriff Hopper is a very good law enforcement to do his job because he should know about that risk.

And I couldn’t believe my eyes when I see a Sheriff would allow his man to go down alone to check the house when a mad murdered still at large. From another movie like Die Hard or Lethal Weapon, the head chief always furious when his man doing the showdown alone and not waiting for backups. The order by the Mayor shouldn’t be respond if the Sheriff feels his man is on danger. As a superior, he can use his dominant to order his man to retreat.

And the character of Sheriff Hopper as a Sheriff will not have my credit because he shut his eyes up on the mass murdered because the guy that killed by Leather face was corrupt. If talking about justice, he should consider about what Jed does in 1974.  “Just clean up the mess” he says? And he forgot about the slaughter of Heather’s friend and also his man.

The articles maybe use to twist the story from mad killer to monster heroic cousin, but I don’t understand why Heather so easily gets along with Leather face just because he’s her cousin. Maybe she’s a cold heart woman that forgot about how Jed sly her friends in front of her face.

Become a Sawyer, which she didn’t know for almost a years of her life, shouldn’t change her so quick and leap to the side of a murdered. Or perhaps Heather is really a cold heart woman because she didn’t ask a thing why her best friend’s Nikki ends up with her boyfriend’s Ryan on the barn when they hide from the Leather face chase.
