THE BOY

I got the trailer of The Boy from my daughter in the early days of 2016, which she said it’s a horror movie that should be watched this year. And I said to myself after seeing the trail, it might’ve been good one, the scenes established storyline where the girl broke the rules one by one which make the doll comes to life was frantic, so I went to the cinema with lot of hopes that I would be slammed with tons of tense...

It really awkward, isn’t it if you’re hired by someone to do unusual job?

I have one myself, I remember when my friend contact me and asked me to help her to do some project from her client.  It was one of major bank in Indonesia and the project was to make survey several of services on their front office and customer relationship.

I don’t want to talk details but I have to put hidden cameras and other stuff like that to record what they do while serving customers. The result? Well, I have many accounts on that bank till now.

Anyway, I think that blizzard feeling I had was felt by Greta when she found out that she had to take care of a doll. She took the job as a nanny on the remote area of British area, to run away from sucking boyfriend named Cole in US.

The Heelshire couples gave her list before left her for some ever-dream-holiday but strangely Mrs. Heelshire said sorry to her when they leave the living room, I thought, once, it was a sign or some kind of warning for Greta that the Heelshire put her there, in the house with the strange doll, in order to make her as the sacrifice.

And strange things does happened when Greta ignore the Brahm’s doll and sometime treat it badly, like covering it with blanket or throw it away, she realized that were something that got connection with the doll.

She often heard boy crying in the night, a boy once had by Heelshire that she heard from Malcolm had died in fire on his 8th birthday, she found out tears from the doll’s eye, her clothes gone after she took a shower, how she locked in the attic when she preparing for a date, and the fact that the doll stood up in weird position many times.

Only then Greta realized that Brahms wants her to be kind for her, and the doll will do better, by showing its mystery to Malcolm, do as she said to move inside the room after she knocked the wall. She becomes obsessed with the doll and refused Malcolm’s invitation to date. She found a new hope of her lost baby child, which Cole got the whole part of it, from the doll, and for that she care Brahms impulsively.

Greta doesn’t care about strange story about Brahms past, when Malcolm told it, doesn’t notice the letter from Heelshire that send to the house before they make suicide, and only believed that Brahms wouldn’t hurt her. Her new absurd world disrupted when Cole found her and finally came to the house to take her back to US.

She asked Brahms to save her from the vicious boyfriend and that night Cole was shocked when someone pour some blood on his face while sleeping. The blood hand writing on the wall ordered him to leave also make him mad and the fight between Cole and Greta are avoidable.

Greta yell and try to protect Brahms but Cole succeed to grab it and smashed it. They were looking at original eyes from the wreck after the doll’s head became pieces, and soon after that there was strange noise inside the wall. Cole seek for the source but when it stopped at the mirror, it exploded and Greta shocked to see a creature came from the inside. That’s a man but his face is cover with porcelain mask, similar to the doll’s face. The weird man killed Cole and hunted Greta and Malcolm who tried to escape from the house.

Now it became clear to me why Mrs. Heelshire asked Greta to told story from the book with loud voice and setting music player way out loud because she wants the man that lives in the wall house could hear it as well.

So the man must be their son, who survived from the fire, but his weirdness push his parent to take care of the doll for many years just only to preserve the thought of people that he was dead.

Did Greta can escape from the real weird living things Brahm?

I think you should watch it, especially for you who allergic to ghost or something like that because The Boy is a horror movie that exclude spiritual things in it...just creepy human being after all...
